This is a project that is very close to our hearts: Michele Machetti together with Gabriele Gorelli, Italy's first Master of Wine, collaborate directly with two friends Nicola Biasi - oenologist and producer, and Stefano Bastiani, producer of Cormons. These four characters who drank something together, wanted to enhance an old promiscuous vineyard, without any denomination but which produced a very interesting grape, to create an Orange wine with an easy approach and a competitive price.
Sitting at a table and tasting different macerated wines, they realized that the most experienced palates had no problems comparing themselves with most of the orange wines, but those of less used, were instead in difficulty in front of them, to certain aromatic complexities.
Here the desire to create a wine that exalts conviviality to the maximum, that puts the whole table in agreement, that respects the identity of the place and of the macerated wine but that also expresses great versatility of combination with original cuisines and different interpretation.
ARANSAT IN FRIULAN DIALECT MEANS ORANGE, SO ORANGE WINE
It is produced with traditional grapes, mainly Friulano from a 40-year-old vineyard. The vineyards are located in the Municipality of Cormons and all conducted in an integrated pest management regime. The soil is clayey-limestone with East-West exposure. The climate is typically continental with cold winters, rainy springs and hot, sunny summers. After the harvest, the grapes are de-stemmed and transferred to steel vats where they ferment for about 15 days on the skins at 24 ° C. Contact with the skins lasts up to 90 days at an average temperature of 18 ° C.The malolactic fermentation takes place naturally in spring, partly also in used French oak barriques. The wine is bottled unfiltered, after two decanting.
